Albion Park tips

Albion Park is set to host a 12-race program on Thursday night to kick off the Golden Greys Summer Carnival. The Queensland Flame Final is the headline act and features the likes of Jay Is Jay and Bear’s Bullet, while The Spark includes the likes of Rocklea Earle and Very Handy.

Race 8: Jay Is Jay (2)

Queensland’s best sprinter returns to Albion Park for the first time since taking out the 2023 Million Dollar Chase. He is the track record holder over 520m and brings a menacing box-two record to the Queensland Flame having won seven from eight attempts. With Bear’s Bullet set to give him the perfect cart into the race, expect Jay Is Jay to get outside her down the back straight and put the feature race to bed.

Race 1: Royal Warren (2)

Royal Warren returns from six weeks between runs and is capable of sprinting well fresh. The son of Fernando Bale has two wins and two placings from five career outings, and although he is yet to win over 520m, this race appears to be his easiest assignment to date. He can lead this field, and as the rest aren’t known for their big booming finishes, expect Royal Warren to steal it from the front.

Race 4: Swish (2)

Swish returns to the Albion Park 520m after a couple of runs over 600m. The daughter of Konomi placed in her first attempt at 600m and finished last in last week’s fifth-grade final. She has found a very winnable fifth-grade contest here and will be aided by the low box draw. Lederhosen Boy on her inside lacks early speed, while the dogs drawn outside her want to use the track.
