Jeremiah Fire’s stunning 37.77 run wins The Clarence final

Jeremiah Fire produced a record-breaking performance to claim victory in The Clarence Final at Grafton on Sunday night, stopping the clock at a stunning 37.77 and setting a new track record over 660m.

Trained by Warren Nicholls and owned by Grafton local Mark Moroney, Jeremiah Fire overturned previous defeats to Autumn Storm in both the track record run earlier this month and last week’s heat to emerge victorious in the final at $6.50 odds .

Beginning well from the wide draw, the blue chaser surged forward in the early stages, taking control of the race before fending off the determined Autumn Storm in the run home.

The victory came as a surprise to many, including trainer Warren Nicholls, who had initially expected the bookmaker favourite Jeremiah Fire to be playing for the minor placings behind his recent nemesis.

The early battle saw Jeremiah Fire and Autumn Storm vying for position, but Jeremiah Fire’s ability to hold the inside running through the turn proved decisive.

He extended his lead down the back, with Autumn Storm in pursuit and Stowaway settling into third.

As they straightened for home, Jeremiah Fire found another gear, holding off the fast-finishing Autumn Storm to score by three and a half lengths, while Stowaway claimed third, ensuring a strong showing for the Tom Tzouvelis kennel.

Having previously secured the Grafton Jacaranda Maiden series and made the finals of feature races such as the Group 1 Gold Cup at Albion Park and the Group 3 Past Members Trophy at Ipswich, this latest triumph further solidifies his reputation as a top-class chaser.

With 15 wins from 55 career starts and over $133,000 in prize money, Jeremiah Fire’s next step remains uncertain, though the Ladbrokes Country Classic series, culminating in a $100,000 to-the-winner final at Dubbo, looms as a possible target, currently offering $26 for him to win.
