2010 Temora Cup Gains Full TAB & Sky Coverage
The NSW GBOTA was this week delighted to announce that the Temora Cup meeting on Sunday, March 7, 2010 will receive TAB coverage and be broadcast on Sky Channel.
NSW GBOTA Chairman, Bill Mangafas said that the TAB/Sky Coverage will elevate the Temora Cup meeting to another level and his Association was delighted to be able to showcase Temora before a national audience.
“Anybody that has ever been to Temora will be able to tell you that it is a magnificent race track with top quality amenities,” said Mr Mangafas.
“The Cup meeting invariably attracts outstanding fields and I am sure we will see super big track racing.”
The Temora track provides grass track racing over 311m, 457m 570m and 732m. It is based on the old Harold Park track and nomination-wise, remains one of the most popular non-TAB tracks in NSW.
The Temora Cup is part of the highly successful GRNSW Country Challenge series and heats will be staged on Saturday evening, February 27. The March 7 final will be run in the twilight slot and will carry $5,000 to the winner.
The heat and final meetings are part of a four meeting carnival with the supporting meetings set down for Tuesday evening, March 2 and Saturday afternoon, March 6.
NSW GBOTA Area Director, Bill Schwencke, said no stone would be left unturned to make the carnival and, in particular, the final meeting a roaring success.
“The Cup meeting will feature eight finals with racing over all distances,” explained Mr Schwencke.
“The Cup is always a cracker and the staying event always gets me excited.
“There are not too many better sights in greyhound racing than a 732m event on a big grass track.”
Mr Schwencke added that the Club was anticipating a lot of support from travelling trainers, emphasising that the Club would be doing whatever it could to help visitors.
“We aim to give everybody a good time from locals to visitors and especially punters,” Mr Schwencke enthused.
“A bookmaker will be in attendance at all meetings during the carnival and cross-code totalisator services will provided at the March 6 and March 7 meetings.”
NSW GBOTA Executive Officer, Brenton Scott, the TAB and Sky coverage of the Temora Cup meeting continued a desire on the part of the NSW GBOTA to see TAB racing expanded in the south, central and north west of NSW.
“We have been ringing that bell for over a decade and the Temora Cup meeting is another small step forward,” stated Mr Scott.
