Thursday night showcases another night of Group Three racing in South Australia with the final of the SA Derby to be run and won at Angle Park.
The $25,000 to-the-winner event has been taken out in recent years by Turanza Bale (2008) (sire of super-star Xylia Allen), Dyna Forte (2009), Walter Bale (2010), Yowyeh (2011), Spud Regis (2012) and last year’s winner Ernie Bung Arrow.
Queenslander Iva Vision (8) has qualified the fastest for the 2014 final and will be relying heavily on his perfect record out of box eight. He may have trouble crossing this field as there is a bit of pace on the inside with the likes of Allen Icarus (2) and Aston Kane (3). A few strong types will be looking to feature, such as Dyna Ostrander (6), Texas Titan (7) and Wind Whistler (1). They all need luck early to do their best work at the end.
The improver appears to be Dyna Alchemist (4), who got to the lead last week but was just grabbed by Iva Vision. The Collins kennel has noted that he should be improved off that run. Lannister (5) looks to have a challenge ahead of him as he has had just the two wins coming into this final.
The race is schedule to jump at 9:41pm. Here’s a look at each of the greyhound’s in the final and the Centrebet fixed odds market:
Comments: Angela Langton (Trainer) – “They (Wind Whistler and Texas Titan) have both got as much ability as any of the others in the race, it is just a matter of where they are in running. They both just need a clear run…Wind Whistler is in a better position near the fence.”

Comments: Tammy Collins (Kennel Representative) – “We are probably expecting the same sort of performance from him. He will benefit from a look at the track and he is a young, consistent chaser that gives 100% all the time. He could run a cheeky place.”
Comments: ARG opinion is – This exciting chaser is a real live-chance. He led last week for a dominant 29.78 victory. He is a winner of eight races from nine starts at the track and is a good beginner. This is his first real test to see if he can mix it in the higher grades.
Comments: Tammy Collins (Kennel Representative) – “I expect a lot from him this week. He came into the heats underdone and he had not seen the track. He will be better for the run last week and better for a look at the track. He can begin and he goes straight so the draw shouldn’t be a worry for him.”
Comments: ARG opinion is – He has just the two wins from nine starts but has been placed on seven occasions. He has just the one win at Angle Park from seven attempts. He will find this just a bit too tough from the draw.
Comments: ARG opinion is – He won four in a row around Victorian tracks before being unplaced at Sale and then finishing second in his heat behind Texas Titan. He had box eight last week and after finding early trouble, worked himself into the race well. He obviously has the ability but the draw hasn’t been kind to him. He has had seven goes from box six for just one victory.
Comments: Angela Langton (Kennel Representative) – “They (Wind Whistler and Texas Titan) have both got as much ability as any of the others in the race, it is just a matter of where they are in running. They both just need a clear run…Texas Titan does want to use the track but he will be a fair way off the track out in box seven.”

Comments: ARG opinion is – Based on last week’s run and his form from a wide draw, Iva Vision looks the one to beat. He was the fastest heat qualifier and has really taken to Angle Park.

Comments: Has just the three wins from 15 starts and will struggle to feature if he gets a start.

Comments: Has a great record at the track with 10 wins from 13 starts. He ran an average race last week and will need to show a bit more pace if he is to factor in this final.
