Anthony Bullock Has The Breeders Classic Numbers

Many years ago Exeter trainer enjoyed success with the Kevin Tolputt owned Hielaman and he is hoping for a similar result on Thursday night when the HGRC will conduct the annual feature, sponsored by Betfair and carrying a winners prize of $5,000 and an additional $4,500 breeders .

Big betting Bullock has reduced the odds of him taking home the major portion of the prize somewhat by qualifying four runners and the first emergency for the rich event and is quietly confident of success.

His kennel will be represented by Hellyeah Jetta, Hellyeah Missile, Hellyeah Bolt, Hellyeah Flicka and Hellyeah Fiona, all raced by the West Coast based Hellyeah Syndicate and members of a litter by from the mare Flash Diamond, a daughter of the illustrious matron .

The trainer rates Hellyeah Bolt and Hellyeah Missile as the pick of his quartet and believes that at the 340 metre boxes they will be racing in third or fourth position and waiting to swoop on the leaders.

“I predict that Dream Miss will lead and Moon Breaker will be up there in the firing line as well, but they might run wide, paving the way for something to rail up and snatch victory,” he explained.

“With that in mind I rate the Ricky Martin prepared Leica Comet as my main danger, because it is highly likely to be sitting behind the leader enjoying a nice run in transit.”

Bullock prepares a large team and is regarded as a very astute judge, able to predict the outcome of a race and the racing patterns of the contestants.

Meanwhile veteran George Town trainer Tom Doherty has never won a Breeders Classic, but has an undeniable chance of breaking his duck with the very smart Moon Breaker, by from the November Fury bitch Ebony In Charge.

The lightly raced chaser has struck a purple patch of form and will be shooting for four wins in succession on Thursday night from the black box.

Doherty was involved in the industry many years ago, preparing the likes of Prince Nevar, Solo Rhythm and Autumn Rhythm, but took time off to pursue other interests.

He is now back on deck preparing a small team and enjoying plenty of success, showing that he has not lost the knowledge that he previously.

“I am very pleased with Moon Breaker, he is racing particularly well and needs just an ounce of luck to figure in the Thursday night,” he explained.

The NWGRC meeting conducted at the Raceway on Tuesday provided several surprises, including the defeats of the old champ Rewind and the up and coming Buckle Up Wes, both considered to be “over the line”.

Having his first start over 600 metres and shooting for his 60th win, Rewind was unplaced behind the very smart Sing The Song and then later in the programme Buckle Up Wes, had to be content with second placing behind Enfield Fire.
