Bate On Launching Pad

will launch a two pronged attack on next week's $36,000 2 Pad final after Allen Lawson and Martili Bale won their heats at Park tonight.

With the country's best up and coming greyhounds converging on the Lightwood Road circuit, the master Lara mentor left it to the final two heats to make his mark on the series. Martili Bale (winning in 29.55 seconds) and Allen Lawson (29.66 seconds) each recorded impressive victories to give the trainer an excellent chance to claim one of the few Group titles to elude him in his illustrious career.

All eight heat winners recorded times within four lengths of each other, but it was Glenn Rounds' exciting youngster Mini Emily who set the time standard when she won her heat in 29.51 seconds.

Mini Emily won consecutive races in Perth before being transferred to Rounds' Tooradin kennel in March. Jumping fairly from box 8, Mini Emily found the lead down the back straight to win by 3.5 lengths, shaving almost seven lengths off the time she recorded in her successful Victorian debut the Sunday prior.

's Easy Peasy also recorded an impressive victory, overcoming box five to record a comfortable five length victory in 29.56 seconds. The son of Pure Octane bounced back from consecutive losses to record the fifth win of his nine race career, and his chances of victory in this week's final improved after drawing favourably in box 2.

Also drawing well in next Thursday's final was Pearcedale trainer Kay King's Zero's Hero, who led all the way to win his heat in 29.68 seconds. Zero's Hero broke a run of eight outs in winning his heat, and will be in the market to make it consecutive victories after drawing the cherished box 1.

Aleta Allen took out the first heat of the night for in 29.74 seconds, while Robert Britton made it a good night for trainers when Hutmaker led all of the way to win the second heat in 29.70 seconds.

has enjoyed a winning run of late, and King Ashy ensured that run continued tonight when he won his heat 29.75 second.

In front of a big crowd on an exciting night of greyhound racing, staying prospect Shimaguni won the seventh race of her ten race career when she took out the first leg of the quaddie in an impressive 41.77 seconds over the 715m journey. In the feature stayer's race of the night, So Seductive returned to the winner's circle with a stunning come-from-behind victory over Allen Zander.

The final of the $36,000 Launching Pad will be run on Thursday 14 April.
