With free entry on offer at Gosford next Tuesday evening for the running of the 2023 edition of the Group Two Beast Unleashed Gosford Gold Cup, the large crowd set to be on hand will not be disappointed with the final field decided last night to contest the 515m journey. The time-honoured event has been won by some outstanding chaser's during its long and rich history, including last year's victor Zipping Kyrgios, race-sponsor Beast Unleashed (2019), Wow (2021) and Miss Elly Mint (2009).

While majority of the focus was centered around superstar chaser She's A Pearl in her debut appearance at the track, Jason Magri's Zipping Novak took time honours in producing a sensational performance in the opening heat from a tricky box six draw, clocking a slick time of 29.23. Having positioned himself in fourth spot heading into the back straight, the son of and Zipping Meg went into another gear, whizzing past a gallant to salute by 1.5 lengths.

She's A Pearl stepped out in heat two at skinny odds of $1.55 and it wasn't all smooth sailing for the Jodie Lord-trained chaser, having been held up slightly by eventual second placegetter Reflections heading towards the first turn. The May Chase Champion quickly sped to the lead heading into the back straight and streaked away to score by 5 lengths in the second fastest qualifying time in 29.27. It was the daughter of Aston Dee Bee and Shez Impetuous' 26th career win from just 43 appearances, with her prize money total now sitting at $1,530,470.

Recent G1 victor Good Odds Emma returned to the winners circle in heat three, overcoming a difficult box six draw to book her place in the final. The daughter of Fernando Bale and Good Odds Meghan stepped cleanly and quickly mustered pace to heading into the back straight. The Jodie Lord prepared chaser fought off a brave challenge from runner-up Fat Boy's Dream, to salute in a time of 29.32.

In the final heat, recent G2 Black Top winner French Martini was sent out as the favourite runner by punters, with an added advantage of a vacant box to her inside. Ibrox Rocks won the start, with Frank Hurst Mia She's Fast making a line of three at the first turn and took over proceedings heading into the back straight. While French Martini got herself into second position and seemingly into the final behind Mia She's Fast, Jodie Lord's Punter's Bandit stormed over the top of both runners to claim the win by a head in 29.33.

Next week's final promises to be a memorable one, with the successful partnership of Jodie Lord and Syndicators Punters HQ qualifying three runners, particularly after She's A Pearl came up with the coveted inside alley.
