Wind Whistler
Ultra-consistent chaser and his effort behind Whodat Knockin' last week was highly impressive. He should have derived a lot of benefit from that run and he is drawn to get every chance, the concern is that he likely to get a little too far back tonight but he will steam home and he can snag some minor money.
Sonic Pirate
Caused a massive upset last week and he was very impressive, obviously this is going to be a lot harder than last week's heat and he is going to need too many things to go right for him to feature. Must lead to have any hope and I can't see that happening.
Hostile (SCRATCHED)
Freak talent and if given a clear run he probably wins comfortably, however he has poor box manners and he has a heap of speed drawn on his outside. I dont think he can hold out Luca Neveelk and Avondale Porche early but if he can clear the inside two and find the fence then he becomes a major player. He really is a super talent and with an ounce of luck he is a big chance.
Luca Neveelk (SCRATCHED)
Class act and has won a staggering 24 of his 31 career starts. He surprised me last week as he hung in for a lot longer up the home straight than I thought he would. If he can hold out Avondale Porche at the first bend he may be able to set up a nice lead mid race and that might be enough for him to get the cash.
Avondale Porche
Easily the most impressive heat winner and her sectionals last week where off the charts. If she pings and leads again I can't see them getting anywhere near her. The concern tonight is that Luca Neveelk has the early speed to match her and if he holds her out in the first 50m she may have to work too hard mid race to get to the lead. Obviously a winning chance but I give the edge to Luca Neveelk.
Oakvale Destiny
Big effort to score in her heat and she has won here previously in a blistering 29.76. The box draw is a big disadvantage tonight and I can't see her getting into the race in the first half of the event. She must be respected but I think place claims appear best tonight because I can see her being posted wide for most of the event.
Zambora Magic
Has always had enormous talent and he showed a lot of that talent with a strong 30.55 heat win. He will clearly need to go quicker to win but if he happens to ping he is capable of going much quicker, has his work cut out but to be honest, a top three finish wouldn't surprise me.
Whodat Knockin'
In good hands and was a handy 30.37 heat winner but in my eyes he appears to be a couple of lengths off his best form at present. He is yet to win in five tries from this draw and if he happens to miss the start by the smallest of margins he is likely to be posted wide for the first half of the journey. Can win but I would be just be including him in my exotic bets.
Reserves
Dyne Geldof
Racing consistently at present but this is a big rise in class and would need to draw the red to have any chance of filling a place. Can safely say that he is unlikely to feature if he gains a start
Ibrox Digger
Races well here but appeared to have every chance in his heat and lacks the genuine class of his opponents, very one paced and would need too many things to go right for him to feature.
With the scratching of two of the well fancied runners, Avondale Porche appears to have been handed the race. With the lack of speed drawn underneath her, she should be able to roll to the lead quite cheaply and as they bunch up behind her she should be able to establish a monster lead mid race. She is likely to start fairly short now but this really looks her race.
Wind Whistler will probably settle mid field and he should be running home strongly at the end, he will need the gaps to open at the right times mid race but he really does look a great quinella prospect.
Whodat Knockin' isn't quite at his best but he probably doesn't need to be to feature in the final, he should be able to settle in the top three early now and he is quite strong in the run to the line.
Oakvale Destiny rounds out the hopes, I still don't like her from the middle draw but outside of the top four chances this race lacks a lot of depth.
