Australian greyhound tips for Wednesday 16th August 2017

AN even day on the punt for our followers yesterday with a small profit from three bets. Zipping Jacy (Dyna Tron x Yarramundi Flash Aug '15) did the job at Horsham and is very good greyhound, although his slightly tardy starts will hurt him as he steps up in grade; but is doing everything right at this stage and ideally suited to the big one turn tracks.

Pittsy Lomar (Vee Man Vane x Elite Madam Jan '14) was average at best. Just one of those that needs everything to go his way or to lead to show his best. Over at Gawler, it was a very wet heavy track and that probably brought us undone. Luca Bazooka (Vapour Whirl x Sharlinda Apr '15) had to do a bit more work than we expected to get to the front after slightly missing the start, and then just got very tired the last 10 metres. We were priced in to have a play knowing that would happen, but probably should've adjusted the price a little further out given it was going to be a much more testing run on the heavy track. Close but no collect.

Fourteen units sent around yesterday on our best bets and tips hit one out of three, so we essentially got money back. No damage done and POT is unaffected.

Best Bet: Race 8 Box 4 Maximum Bella
Maximum Bella (Magic Sprite x Lil's Memory Jul '13) has won her past two here both from box two and is racing with renewed vigour. Meets a very similar field here and we're almost certain to get odds, as odds makers will take a set against her from this box. Has been able to win from the front and from behind so extremely well placed here and nothing drawn inside looks a major danger. Biggest dangers are Miss Lava (box six) and Lektra Ash (box eight). A little bit of a throw at the stumps here, but getting odds to play.

Best Bet: Race 9 Box 4 Ailla
Don't believe in throwing good money after bad but we did say after the last race that Ailla (Magic Sprite x Mon Cherie Feb '14) would be worth a bet from an inside draw or a change of track. We didn't quite get the inside draw we were after, but is better than the last three starts where she has been drawn off and we do get a track change. Has got a motor and doesn't get many opportunities to show it off, but this is a very even and steady field and did run second at odds last time she drew box three. Has a slow beginner to her inside and may just get the start she needs today to produce her best. Each way play at big odds.

In what is starting to become a trend we've found a couple of best bets at the one track today on one of Victoria's fairer single turn tracks. Going to give you a couple of runners at Ballarat that we think we can get value from, may go around over their true odds and be great chances in the races they are competing.
Best Bet: Race 6 Box 1 Inequality
Tough race when you look at it more closely but fancy Inequality (Dashing Corsair x Velocity Zip Jan '15) will be able to hold the rail and that should prove the winning move. Complicating the race is the fact that the two best dogs in the race Inequality and Dyna Danna are not quick from the boxes so will need some luck in running. Pace should come from box eight with Ginger Menang who will struggle to run the trip out, and Inequality needs to begin well enough to miss Fool Proof from box two who does look for the rail. Provided Inequality can get enough room to rail through down the back straight he will definitely prove to good in the run home. For all the reasons above though, do not take unders. If Inequality gets overbet, then the value will be around Dyna Danna (Jarvis Bale x Carol Allen Sep '15) from box six but the problem with her is that she stands high in the boxes and does not get her head down at the start. When or if she corrects that flaw in her racing, her record will improve dramatically. If you are looking for a saver then Dyna Danna at $6.00 or better (1 unit) is a good bet.

Best Bet: Race 9 Box 8 Mandelbaum
Mandelbaum (My Bro Fabio x Zipping Amity Oct '15) has created a big impression winning a maiden heat and final at Bendigo over 425m and beating another handy young greyhound in Holloway in the final. Has remarkably started from boxes seven or eight at all three of his starts and comes up again with box eight tonight – should surely be starting to learn his way from the outside draw. Off the eight again tonight, its impossible to see him getting beaten in this race although he'd be far better suited off the 450m start. Doesn't have blistering early pace, but does have a big motor once he hits the ground and gets all the room to move. Will just prove to fast for this lot and will only get better going up in distance here next time.
