Dapto tips for February 29, 2024

Dapto will host a 12-race card on Thursday night, with the first jumping at 6:58pm local time. This will be the first Dapto meeting held on February 29 since 1996, and it will be another 28 years until it happens again. The Dapto heat of the Country Classic 600m race will be the highlight, and there is even the very rare occurrence where Greg Hore will have every runner in the 600m fifth-grade event. Australian Racing Greyhound present our free Dapto betting tips and best bets:

Race 7: August Bob (2)

In the Dapto heat of the Country Classic, August Bob is looking to improve on his impressive middle-distance debut here on the February 15. He gave nothing else a chance that night, leading all the way and running an impressive time first-up. This race looks no harder, but he will need to find the front and there is a very good beginner drawn out wide. He has only been here four times and three of those were over the sprints, but he did go 29.61 and 29.69 around the Dapto 520m.

Race 12: Flyin’ Ethics (3)

Flyin’ Ethics was far from disgraced last week when third to Black Mamaragan. He missed the start, which is crucial in these races, and his effort to get beaten by less than a length was good. He draws slightly better in this, as this boy does his best work closer to the rails. He has had five runs at Dapto for two wins and a third and is yet to win from box three in five attempts. If Flyin’ Ethics begins like he can, he will easily lead this field, and if he breaks the 17-second mark again, he won’t be getting beaten.

Race 3: Lee Keeping (2)

In what is a moderate masters event, there is massive value in Lee Keeping. He desperately needs an inside box, which he has here in box two, and while his form is not great, he hasn’t been doing a ton of racing in masters grade of late. He has only won the seven career races, but that is very good compared to the rest of this field. Lee Keeping has only won one from 18 on this track, but that should only add to the each-way value of this boy.
