It is one of the greatest nights of greyhound racing anywhere in the country, with the finals of the Golden Easter Egg, Association Cup, Ultra Sense, and GRNSW Masters lighting up Wentworth Park this Saturday. There are 11 races on the program, with the first race begins at 6:57pm. Australian Racing Greyhound has scoured the big races to bring you the best bets on the card.
GRNSW Masters Final
520m – Race 4 – 7:57pm AEST
Father Rick did the impossible to win last week in the heats. His time wasn't great, but he finds ways to win. Can he get lucky two weeks in a row? Coco Model is the likely leader, and that might be the value play. Vencedor is perfectly drawn, and if he can hold the two and three out to the first turn, he will set up a winning break but needs to begin. Cumbria Kid is another who will be off the pace and will need a touch of luck from the draw.
Palawa King was simply stunning in his heat win, and if he gets any luck in the final, he is the best stayer in the country and will win. Valpolicella is also horribly drawn, out in box eight, but she is a better beginner than Palawa King and might be the only one that can hold him off. Canya Amy was good last week in only her second 720m run, and she may still be getting better. Al's Entity took advantage of some trouble to win his heat and has good early pace and could be in front early.
Six of these eight dogs do their best when they find the front, so does that make Leg Speed a good thing? He is the strongest dog in the race and will need luck in running, but if he gets it and they don't absolutely fly in front, he may well run over them. Wallacia Mist was superb in her heat, running exceptional sections and the best time of the night. Stop It was only having his first look at the track and should improve. You can guarantee that there will be plenty of value to be had if you can find the winner.
Smooth Plane was desperately unlucky in the Golden Easter Egg semis and deserves this race as compensation. He has another awkward draw to overcome, but his Egg heat win shows how good he is. Shima Current is probably better boxed out wide and is a major player in this race. One Hot Bandit is probably the best dog in the race but will give away a big start, and you can't keep doing that at this track. If Angel Shirley can find her box manners and come out running, she can lead this all the way.
If Mackenna comes out running and posts 29.2 seconds, she wins — plain and simple. Zipping Megatron, however, may get a beautiful trail along behind if he can just stay attached to her tail early. Ferness will get a lovey trail also from box one and, again, is improving with racing on the track. All Natural is due to ping the lids, and if she can find a way to cross them early, she could stack them up and lead all the way. Nangar Larry is very good, but can he cross this field from box seven?
