Massive night of racing tonight in Melbourne at Sandown Park, with the heats of the Worlds Richest Race. With big names like Xylia Allen, Dyna Nalin, Spud Regis, Black Magic Opal and Farmor Las Vegas, to name a few engaged. Will also see 4 heats of the Bold Trease over 720 Meters.
Its an action packed night and one in which all greyhound fans will no doubt tune in to witness Australia's best dogs go around. Unfortunately there's no Queensland representative this year, so we will have to cheer on the Sandgropers with young Sveta Monelli in heat 2 for David Hobby.
Albion Park Greyhounds Race 6 Box 3 Waynie Boy 8.28pm
Very tough 600 meter race here with many chances. I'll go with Waynie Boy here to beat the likely favourite in Benarkin, who's unbeaten over the 600 in 5 starts and produced a huge effort to win here last start. There's actually 3 dogs engaged here who have all broken the magic 35.00 second barrier Waynie Boy- 34.86, Benarkin- 34.91, and Lenoard- 34.94; and that's quite rare. I'll stick with Waynie Boy who's drawn the best and should be fair odds. All 3 fast dogs are slow beginners and all will need their fare share of luck. Waynie Boy should get the best run of the 3, with box 1 and 2 runners fast beginners who should give him the run of the race. Mid race and in the run to the line, this bloke is a powerhouse and can unleash a devastating finish to win this. He should be $6.00 and he's a great eachway chance.
Angle Park Greyhounds Race 5 Box 1 Just Shine 8.40pm
Big chance here given to Just Shine, who looks as if he's working his way back to winning form. He's run a blistering 29.66 here and has won 3 from 4 starts from box 1. With ordinary beginners to his immediate outside, he should ping and land straight on the bunny early on, and once on the bunny I doubt they will catch him. He finished second to box 5 runner Galilee Spirit last start in a fast 30.04 and from the better box here tonight he should have no trouble turning the tables. His trainer Robyn Mackellar, has her dogs flying at present and always gets the best out of her dogs. Robyn has a strong hand in tonight's races and this fellow is her best chance I believe. He should start around $4.00 and he looks a massive chance to win this here tonight from the red box.
Dapto Greyhounds Race 1 Box 1 Stately Striker 7.28pm
A return to the cherry here might bring the very best out of this dog, who has won here at Dapto in a moderate 30.46 previously. His current form is pretty poor but so is his oppositions. He has begun quickly in the past avd can show enough early toe in this to lead them up. Once on the bunny he should find a few lengths and might be able to stop the clock in about 30.30. Fast enough to win this by a length or two. He doesn't posses a booming finish nor early toe, and he's more a one pace sort of runner; but with the added advantage of the cherry and the fact he's won here before gets him the nod in a open race.
Hobart Greyhounds Race 9 Box 4 Trezza Green 10.08pm
Terrible race and Trezza Green looks the only thing that can win. She's a winner of 3 from 9 and has managed to record a victory over the trio here at Hobart in 26.65. She's got plenty of early toe and looks the likely leader here in a ordinary field. She's run some fair times at Devonport, and should have no trouble running around the 26.50 mark here tonight. Box 4 shouldn't trouble her, and I expect the daughter of Droopy's Kewell to be winning.
Sandown Greyhounds Race 8 Box 3 Kiss Me Ketut 9.35pm
I'll pop for Kiss Me Ketut here in this. Big odds should be available and he's certainly capable of causing a upset from an inside box. He has to tackle Xylia Allen avd Banjo Boy but he looks up to it. He's a winner of 3 from 7 here with 2 placings and although his PB is solid it's nothing compare to Xylia Allen 29.07 and Banjo Boy, 29.01. We often see an upset and if he can produce his best jump and find the bunny early he should go quicker, and there's no doubt he will need too. He's a smart type and the winner of nearly $100,000 and can't be overlooked. The two favourites are boxed out wide and will need to do everything right, with a little luck to fall Ketut's way;
that upset might be here in this race. Eachway tote odds.
