Rockhampton Wednesday tips & quaddie | November 1, 2023
Rockhampton is set to host a 10-race program on Wednesday night from 7:22pm local time. The Central Queensland Derby and Futurity finals headline the meeting, featuring the likes of Sir Banjo, City Way and Pretty Cindy.
Race 4: Pereira (2)
Like many of the runners in this rather weak best-eight field, Pereira has had to race against powerhouse sprinters Mark Sure Can, who is undefeated in Rockhampton, and the flying Inspired Reason. The daughter of Izy Fast has drawn superbly in box two to stalk the speed, with Velocity Kayla, Velocity Nora and Danish Cake all capable of beginning sharply as well as staying off the rails. Expect Pereira to hunt underneath these runners on the home turn and be strongest late.

Race 10: Shakey Country (3)
Shakey Country returns to masters company, where she scored four runs ago when beating Prosecutor by almost two lengths in a good time of 23.98. Since then, she has raced against the likes of Systems Down, Mark Sure Can and Burrum Josie, all of whom won their races in under 23.70. She is capable of finding a forward position from the low draw, chases very hard between dogs, and has a strong finish for this company. Many of these appear broken down or uninterested, which makes Shakey Country very appealing.

Race 5: Burnt Me (7)
Burnt Me made a sneaky return a fortnight ago after a two-month injury absence and put in one of his best recent runs. After working his way to the middle from box one, he was just about to go past the leaders when Velocity Cazau ran off slightly and caused a bump that halted his momentum. Central Locking won the race in 23.83, and if it wasn't for the bump, Burnt Me would've recorded a similar time – and that would be good enough to win this race. Box seven only helps.
