Townsville is set to host 12 races on Tuesday night from 6:54pm local time. There's a cracking maiden final set to be run and won, as well as a staying race over the 643m where four-year-old marvel No Regrets will look to defend her crown. The free-for-all race over the 498m is a beauty with the likes of Alert, Balts Orson and Winlock All Over locked in a three-way tussle in betting.
Best Bet: Santa Maria (Race 10)
Santa Maria's exemplary box manners will ensure she's hard to catch. Given the way she comes out week in, week out, one would struggle to believe she's only a four-time winner from 36 starts. The two-year-old daughter of Aston Kimetto x Zippy's Me Mum has come out humming in her past five starts, recording first sectionals similar to, if not better than free-for-all standards on the same night. Senor Yogi has won 12 of 13 and is arguably the fastest short-course dog to come out of North Queensland; last week the pair ran 7.38 vs 7.41 to the first mark, which demonstrates how quick Santa Maria is over the first 100m. Santa Maria was ultimately run down by another promising young dog in North Queensland, Lush Ice, in 21.85. Santa Maria will be aided from the good draw and will jump straight on the arm. This race will depend on where Spitfire Rhode gets to in running; however, it's always best to side with the dog that will be out of trouble, and in this case it appears to be Santa Maria.

The feature event on the program looks Ritza Benny's race for the taking. The two-year-old son out of Ritza Lenny x Magic Torana was a 13-start maiden with only one placing to his name before returning from a one-month absence with a most impressive win. In that time away from the track, it is key to note that there was a significant kennel change from leading trainer Brad Belford to new trainer Jay Schafer. This appears to be the key difference as Ritza Benny produced a mammoth peak rating, running 22.00s and scoring by two lengths while defeating Denim. Ritza Benny was clearly the fastest heat winner and will be the one they'll all have to run down. He appears very well drawn in box one with Showtime Bart directly outside him, who he clearly beat out of the boxes last week when being drawn well outside him. Given Benny can hold the rails, any rating near his last-start performance will have him comfortably beating this field and making it two wins on the bounce.

The novice race on the night appears even across the board with many of these starters having their prior convictions. Local trainer Lee Pearce only has a small kennel and he'll be hoping his soul runner of the night can salute. This one-year-old daughter of Superior Panama x Wynburn Ava has faced the starter on nine occasions, recording one win and two placings. She was able to break her maiden status three starts back when winning by just under half a dozen lengths in 22.22. Since then, she was well beaten at her next start when finishing second last, but had little luck. Last start, she cost herself any chance of victory with a slow beginning yet thundered home for an eye-catching third. Here, she draws low and could very easily find the rails first given she can cross Federal Ghost, who has been awful since arriving in North Queensland. Mr Gledhill has been slow away at his past few starts and Hard To Style is returning from efforts at the longer trip. Home Slice appears the main danger and will most likely begin favourite. He brings a much faster 21.92 personal best into this race but has been well beaten at his past three.
