Wentworth Park Saturday tips, odds & quaddie | March 2, 2024
Wentworth Park will host 11 quality races this Saturday night, with the first beginning at 6:04pm Sydney time. There are heats of a restricted-class series, the final of the Maitland To Wenty series, and a top-grade 520m race. Australian Racing Greyhound has perused the fields and come up with three best bets on the program.
Race 3: Fire Lighter (2)
This exciting young chaser has been flying around Wentworth Park since coming back from a spell. Fire Lighter has had three starts this campaign for two wins and a second, all at Wenty, and with a personal best time of 29.74 from this very box on February 21. He has had box two three times in his short career for a win, a second and a third. Fire Lighter will be looking towards the rich Easter carnival in the coming weeks, and if he can repeat his personal best or go even quicker, he will be winning this race.
Best Bet
Race 3 –
Form: 13121 | Career: 7: 4-1-1 | Trainer: Michael Ivers
Race 10: Omega Travis (3)
Omega Travis has been beautifully placed in this fifth-grade race, as he is the only dog to have won at Wentworth Park and the only dog to have broken the 30-second mark on the track. He has had 13 career starts for eight wins and four minor placings, with his only miss coming in a heat of a special event at Sandown before heading north to the all-conquering Lord kennels. Omega Travis has never had box three, but with moderate beginners drawn all around him, he is set up to lead and race away for another quality win.

Race 4: Max Stappen (7)
Max Stappen boasts a good record of eight wins and seven placings from 22 starts. He hasn't seen Wentworth Park under race conditions but enjoys the wider draws, winning three from three from box. He ran the best time of the night at The Gardens three starts back and his heat win was very good. He will jump at good odds with online bookmakers, as the Jason Magri trained Stop It will dominate the market. If he can begin well and use his outside box, Max Stappen will be right in the finish.
