Wentworth Park Saturday tips & quaddie picks | September 9, 2023
Greyhound racing returns to Wentworth Park this Saturday night, with the first of 11 races to commence at 6:07pm local time. The heats of two no-city-wins series will headline the program, and there are some excellent supporting races. As always, Australian Racing Greyhound will try to find you a winner or two.
Race 8: Zipping Smudge (8)
This exciting youngster makes his anticipated Wentworth Park debut in this first heat of the no-city-wins series for dogs. With seven starts to his name, he has quickly amassed six wins and a second. He has run some extremely quick times around the Richmond circuit, including a 29.8 from this box in August. He has had box eight three times for two wins and a second and seems at home out deep on the track. He can dwell at box rise and take a little while to truly wind up, which can be a concern here with the tight first turn. However, he has been perfectly placed, and on talent alone, barring interference, he should be winning this race comfortably.

Race 1: Zipping Vanessa (3)
This girl has been mixing her distances of late after representing NSW in the National Distance Series final in Victoria. The way she rounded up and destroyed a fourth/fifth-grade race here 10 days ago was impressive, and this race is no harder; she will just need a touch of luck. All of the fast beginners in this race are drawn out wide, and if she can find herself a spot hard up against the rails in the run to the first turn, she will be far too powerful for this field.

Race 9: Murrurundi Boy (8)
This boy has been mixing his distances of late, trying his hand at middle-distance racing with plenty of success. He loves The Gardens and scorched around the 515m there back in July in 29.4 and then ran a very smart 34.6 over the 600m. He has the distinct bonus of being one of only two dogs in the series to have won two races on the track already, albeit in provincial class. He should get nice cover from the seven dog, who likes to head to the fence. He will need a touch of luck, but with Zipping Caleb likely to be odds-on, Murrurundi Boy represents great value.
