Bogie King February 2011 Run Of The Month

's Run of the Month for February 2011 has been awarded to young Queensland sprint star Bogie King.

He won the award for his hard chasing effort to win the 1 NCA at on February 5th.

In the Derby final Bogie King begun okay but was squeezed up at the first turn and did a great job to push through runners and find himself a handy position with a chance to win.

The scene was set for a great finish down the back straight, with Jason Mackay's Noar In Knocka leading, he was setting a cracking pace up front. However Bogie King chasing hard was able to pick the leader up in the last stride and win. He saluted by a head in 29.67 after sections of 4.96, 17.29 and a run home of 12.38.

Bogie King made his way onto an illustrious honours list of Derby glory, and a veteran of only 14 starts, he looks to have the world at his feet.

Since his Derby win Bogie King has recorded a win at in 30.16 and he will take his place in the Group 2 heats of the on Thursday night at Albion Park. He has drawn box seven in heat three and will take on some talented youngsters including Fantasia (Box 1) and Kinga Zac (box 2).

Bogie King is raced by the Syndicate and trained by Ryan Ayre at Burpengary in Queensland. He is a Black dog whelped March 2009 by from Bogie Skye ( x Bogie Benz). Bogie King has won eight of his 14 starts and has been placed on three occasions his current stake earnings stand at $68,340.

As usual there were some outstanding runs recorded in February but Bogie King got the nod for his outstanding performance in a Group 1 final opposed to some hot opposition.
