Bounding Billy Tonights Best Bet At Sandown
Bounding Billy will look to continue his excellent form in the Schweppes Free For All at Sandown Park tonight.
Backing up after an outstanding all-the-way win in last week’s Schweppes Melbourne Cup Prelude, Bounding Billy has drawn the coveted rails alley for tonight’s feature and should prove difficult to hold out at what will be a very short quote.
Cussler Bale is a consistently fast breaker and may be Bounding Billy’s biggest threat, while Spader, despite the poor boxdraw, is a strong finisher and has been close up in good quality races of late.
Birthday Boy is likely to start favourite in his 10th consecutive race in the opening leg of tonight’s quaddie. Birthday Boy finished strongly behind the impressive Kendale Bale last week, but is a slow beginner and has drawn the difficult box 4 tonight. Rustic Wizard is a noted fast beginner has been knocking on the door of a win. He has been placed in three of his four Sandown Park runs and in the care of in-form trainer Angela Langton, may be a good value chance to break his Sandown Park duck. Chrysler Bale is another likely to vie for the early lead and boasts a solid Sandown Park record.
Stateman has drawn ideally in box one and will again prove hard to beat in race 6. An impressive winner in solid time last week, he meets a similar field and will again be tough to beat tonight. Amity Bale from the in-form Graeme Bate kennel is another in good form, winning three city races in the last month. Flying Kosmas has been mixing his distances of late, but back to sprinting tonight and is capable of running a cheeky race from box 2.
Excellerator completed back-to-back wins with an impressive victory at the Meadows on Saturday. The fast finishing son of Spiral Nikita has again drawn well in box 8, and with luck should be right in the finish. Bad Glenny is capable of fast times but has been expensive for favourite backers of late and will need an ounce of luck from box 5. Alpine Way is a greyhound on the up having run fourth in last Friday’s Group 2 Traralgon Cup and is capable of running a solid race from box 2.
Also on tonight’s card is the Victorian heats of the www.multicamcncrouting.com.au Twin Cities Trophy. Restricted to Grade 5 greyhounds at all metro tracks with 2-6 wins, the winner and runner-up of each of tonight’s heats will contest next week’s State final. The first four from the State final will compete against four representative from The Gardens in the $15,000 to-the-winner Grand Final to be run at Sandown Park on Thursday 9 October.
