Brimstone, Select Moment salute in Ipswich features

Trainer Selena Zammit had a win with in the Listed Young Guns Final at on Saturday.

Ipswich racing served up a 12-race card on Saturday night, highlighted by the Listed Young Guns Final and the Ipswich Grand Prix for the stayers.

After taking out his heat in a 30.23 seconds, -trained lined up in the $50,000 Listed Young Guns as a $2.20 favourite with online bookmakers.

In his way for the 520m final was the Selena Zammit trio of Inevitable ($12), Another Chance ($15) and Brimstone ($7).

With box rise it was an even challenge for the lead with the -trained Ally Gal and Mark Saal-trained heading to the front to give them something to chase.

On the turn, Magistrate took the lead by close to three lengths with Blue Hornet and Brimstone in second and third.

On the final turn and into the straight, Brimstone moved up to eye the leader before running on to win it by two lengths.

Brimstone saluted in a best-of-night time of 30.47, in front of Blue Hornet and Magistrate.

The Flying Fired Up x Agame dog made it six wins from nine starts while cracking $51,735 in prize money for .

He has now had seven runs over the 520m trip at Ipswich, including a win in the QGOLD heats last month.

In the night's staying contest over 732m, the Ipswich Grand Prix Final was won by a chaser on his first look at the trip.

The Gary Mackay-trained was paying $3.30 with greyhound betting sites in the open contest after a fourth-placing in his last start on July 13.

The win was impressive with him putting five lengths on the field and beating home Hidden Agenda ($4) and Courageous Carol ($26), in a time of 43.88.
