Cartwright Property Group Backs Capalaba Derby

The re-birth of the Greyhounds has received a further boost with the signing of Brisbane property high flyer signing as major sponsor of the Capalaba Derby.

Mr Cartwright's successful real estate firm Cartwright Property signed a 12-month deal with the home of straight track racing, which includes naming rights to the Derby to be held on May 18, 2010.

The announcement comes days after top duo Jason Thompson and struck a deal with the Capalaba Club to sponsor the Futurity race, including a boost to the prize purse of a much sought after service to champion greyhound (valued at $3,000).

Mr Cartwright, who is a greyhound enthusiast and also major sponsor of the Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club's Group One Gold Cup (710m), said the deal was designed to help the Queensland industry.

“Capalaba is a top little track with huge potential and I am very excited to be able to help the Club fulfil its ambitions,” said Mr Cartwright.

“Greyhound racing is in a position at the moment to really make a revival and I am very proud to help this along in any way I can.”

The Capalaba Derby is one of six feature races of the Club, and is worth $3,800 in prizemoney.

Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club, the new administrators of the Capalaba Club, general manager the Club and the Queensland greyhound industry was very thankful for Mr Cartwright's generosity.

“Dale (Cartwright) is a fantastic supporter not only of the Brisbane and now Capalaba Club's but the greyhound racing industry as whole,” Mr Gatehouse said.

“We are extremely proud to have him on board, and his support will help fulfil our vision for transforming the Capalaba Club into a breeding ground for greyhound racing talent in Queensland, and to establish it as a key entertainment option in the Redland City.”

“Also, to have such a business alliance with the Cartwright Property Group really lifts the profile of Capalaba Greyhounds.”
