Cheetham’s Plans To Divide And Conquer The Gardens
Veteran mentor Ken Cheetham looks to have a great chance of training a winning double at this afternoon’s meeting at The Gardens.
The champion trainer will line up litter mates Proper Draught in race two, the Multicam Systems Stake (413 metres) and New Divide in the sixth event, the Tooheys New Stake (515 metres).
New Divide has won two out of his past three, including a brilliant all-the-way win on Maitland Cup night and a best of the night performance at NSW premier track, Wentworth Park. From box three, the son of Big Daddy cool and Proper Honey can find the rail first and take some catching.
New Divide’s brother, Proper Draught is well draw on the inside in box two and is coming off a best of the day victory over the Maitland 400 metres and will be favourite to make it back to back wins.
Cheetham has been in great form of late and his star performer, 2009 NSW Greyhound of the Year, Take The Kitty, is not far away from a race track return after recovering from a shoulder injury sustained in a heat of the Golden Easter Egg.
You can bet live on tonight’s bumper meeting at The Gardens at Iasbet or Sportsbet, with the first race of the twilight program scheduled to kick off at 3.42pm AEST
