Cutlack dog delivers best of night time in Carnival Masters heats

Carnival Masters Heats - Cincinnati Lana jumps well from box seven
Cincinnati Lana, jumping from box 7, starts well in her heat of the List Carnival Masters at Albion Park on Wednesday night.

The Listed Carnival Masters heats threw up few surprises at Albion Park, with Cyndie Elson training two winners and a Jedda Cutlack chaser posting the best of night time in her 50th start.

The Listed Carnival final is worth $45,000 and will be a super-competitive race if the heats are any indication, with it set to be run on July 7, the same night as the Mick Byrne Memorial final.

The first heat was won by Cincinnati Lana, trained by Cyndie Elson, starting as favourite at betting sites, as short as $1.30.

Jumping from the black box, she led for the entire trip, opening up a lead of five lengths, before tiring late and holding on to win by three quarters of a length, in a time of 30.31.

It was the 64th start for the Barcia Bale x Cyndie’s Magic bitch, and her 16th win, with most of these over the 520m trip.

Baby Guiness made it two straight wins, serving up an upset after a plunge in betting, coming in from $28 to start at $15 with some bookmakers.

The Stephen Mcdermott-trained chaser snatched the win from the Travis Elson-trained All Aces, who would finish runner up.

In start number 86, the Aston Dee Bee x Velocity Breeze bitch won for the 16th time, her second victory over the trip.

Action Now best results have come over the track and distance for his career (67: 10-20-7), with a nice start to ride the rail and gain the upper hand on the final turn into the straight.

Starting in markets at $4.40, the Fernando Bale x Jeannie Dreaming chaser would celebrate his 114th career start with the win for trainer Daniel Lee.

Running the journey in a time of 30.34, he beat home Zipping Ramona and Cashmere Kaos with race favourite, Springview Magic, paying as short as $2.40, in fourth place.

Jedda Cutlack-trained Tungsten Miss reminded her fans what she was capable of, winning in the best time of the heats, in a handy 30.03 and in front of the field by five and a half lengths.

Before box rise, she was paying $1.50, and was a justified favourite following a win in the Thunder heats, before a fourth spot in the 395m final last week.

The Fernando Bale x Miss Lauryn bitch relishes the 520m with seven wins and 10 placings at the track and distance and as she showed on Wednesday night, she has speed to lead and burn them in the run.

Her record time at the track and trip is 29.91 showing she can run even faster than her Carnival Masters heat.

The final heat for the Carnival Masters was another Cyndie Elson-trained chaser in Hopeful Lana, earning the trainer a double entry in both Listed contest finals to run next week.

In her 104th start, the Fernando Bale x Hope’s Magic bitch lined up starting at $3.60, and with a near perfect rail run passed the leader in Lochinvar Jazz.

Race favourite Edge Gambler, who had started the race at $2.20, tried to lift and challenge but did not have enough in the end, finishing second.

The Carnival Masters will be held on the July 7 card at Albion Park headlined by the $1 million Brisbane Cup over 520m as well as the Queensland Cup over 710m.
