Dailly duo set for Wentworth Park Easter Egg Heats

Renowned greyhound racing trainer is making a change by focusing on quality rather than quantity as he aims for a third Group 1 Golden Easter Egg victory at .

This time he will be entering two sprinters, and Smooth Plane, in the heats on Saturday night at Wentworth Park.

Shima Current, the offspring of Dailly's former standout racer , will be making his debut at Wentworth Park in heat 1, box 4, with odds set at $5 with the top greyhound bookmakers.

Despite facing some challenges, he holds a personal best time of 29.67 seconds at .

However, improving his performance jumping from the box, is crucial for his Easter ambitions.

Smooth Plane, another greyhound owwned by Dailly and sired by Irish dog Vulturi, will also be stepping onto the Wentworth Park track for the first time in heat 8 from box 7 with odds of $7 with Neds.

Following a second-place finish behind Explicit in the Shepparton Cup, Smooth Plane has proven his adaptability on both straight and two-turn tracks.

Noteworthy is his record of five wins out of five races starting in box seven and his impressive times of 24.73 seconds at , 29.67 seconds at The Meadows, and 29.38 seconds at Park.

Despite Smooth Planes preference for races over 500 metres, Dailly remains positive about his chances, in the 450 metre heats.

He stresses the importance of starting fresh and sees the race on Saturday night as a test, for the sprinter.

Dailly's quest for the is deeply meaningful to him, given that it was one of the four G1 wins earned by his greyhound at Wentworth Park in 2015.

While Dailly waits for another greyhound with the same caliber as Fernando Bale to emerge, he remains focused on the challenge, hoping that both Shima Current and Smooth Plane can navigate Wentworth Park successfully and progress to the next phase of the competition.
