Destini Fireball Drawn To Beat Miata In Superstayers Final
Destini Fireball will be aiming for back-to-back Group 1 victories at The Meadows after drawing box one in the Macro Meats Superstayers over 725 metres next Saturday night.
The son of Where's Pedro and Greys Destiny was easily the fastest heat winner, rocketing to a brilliant seven and three quarters win in 42.39, his personal best time over the half-mile journey.
Trained by Norm Rinaldi, Destini Fireball is unbeaten at five attempts over 725 metres (including victory in last week's Group 1 Zoom Top), and will again take on the likes of champion Miata, who brought the house down with a huge win in the last heat of the night.
The West Australian star made it 41 wins from 49 starts with an amazing come from behind victory, spotting early tearaway leader Xylia Allen (near record splits of 15.80 and 29.38) more than 10 lengths before storming to victory in 42.81. If Miata takes out next week's final, she would push her prizemoney to over $790,000.
The other heat was taken out by the brilliant Proven Impala, scoring at her 725-metre debut at The Meadows with an all the way win in 42.59. The daughter of Velocette and Thanks Blue took out last week's Group 1 Rookie Rebel and would push her prizemoney to over $285,000 if victorious.
Next Saturday night will also see the running of the Group 1 Maurice Blackburn Lawyers Australian Cup, worth $250,000 to the winner. Entry is free and former Australian Idol star Jessica Mauboy will be part of a huge night of entertainment next Saturday night.
