Dewana Result Delivers In 2014 Northern Districts Cup

He was the dog that everyone wanted to watch and the dog that carried more expectation into the race than any other. He followed on from his impressive heat win last week and duly delivered the goods.

Dewana Result, at just his fifth start, earned his first sample of black-type glory when he took out the $25,000 at on Saturday night for Edithvale trainer .

While reading the result on paper might make it appear as though it was an all-the-way romp for the son of and Wildcard Lass ( – Pauline), in reality it was another great show of track sense beyond his tender age of just 23 months.

Leaving box six in sixth place, Dewana Result looked to have a mountain of work to do over the short 450 metre trip, especially after copping a small amount of interference in the initial 50 metres.

However, just as he did in his heat, the hulking 37kg black dog whipped around the field in the twinkling of an eye and sped away from early leaders Who Told Blackie (4) and Symmetry Lad (2).

By the time he reached the line, Dewana Result had put seven lengths on his nearest rival to score in the time of 25.18. Symmetry Lad stuck on as well as could be expected for second while Who Told Blackie, who had also raced close to the speed, finished third.

It was Dewana Result's fourth win from just five career outings and takes his prize-money earnings past $28,000. If his tardy box manners do not become his biggest enemy, the speedy youngster could be a star in the making.
