Divide And Rule At The Gardens
The clash between New Divide and Rachael Robbo is the highlight of tonight’s meeting at The Gardens, in race six, the Jeffkins Best 8 over 515 metres, as racing returns to Newcastle on a Wednesday night.
New Divide, prepared by master trainer Ken Cheetham, hasn’t won in his past four starts, but is dropping dramatically in class after tackling some of NSW best chasers at Wentworth Park, including Did I Entertain, a winner of a staggering 18 races at the famous Glebe Circuit.
New Divide, a winner of 13 of his 26 career starts, has had seven starts at The Gardens for five wins and a third. The only time the son of Big Daddy Cool and Proper Honey was unplaced was when he was involved in a fall.
Rachael Robbo is also a track specialist, winning 11 races at The Gardens over three distances, 413, 515 and 600 metres, but she will be looking to bounce back after an unplaced run in the final of the Versatility Series last Friday. The daughter of Eiffella and Rose Robbo was still a great run to beat one runner home after completely bombing the start and losing all chance.
New Divide has drawn five with Rachael Robbo on his immediate outside which makes the contest even more intriguing. A form analyst is tipping New Divide to beat Rachael Robbo, saying:
“NEW DIVIDE (5) drops sharply in class on recent runs at Wentworth Park, excellent beginner with good speed that excels this venue, the one to beat. RACHAEL ROBBO (6) is airborne at present, good beginner with plenty of zip well boxed wider out, the main danger”.
The best bet from tonight is Crazy Dave, race eight number four, whilst the value runner of the night is Brylie Bell a race later (nine) from box six.
There are 10 quality races on tonight’s card, covered by Sky Racing1, but the best way to catch all the excitement is by being at The Gardens. ‘Edens’ restaurant is open with great food at reasonable prices, right on top of the action. Bookings can be made on (02) 49515842.
