Dyna Double One dazzles in Group 2 WA Derby heats at Cannington

was the standout performer in Saturday night's heats of the 2 WA Derby, running a sizzling 30.10 over the 530-metre trip at . 


Beginning moderately from box five, the son of and Crystin Bale got plenty of room to move in the early stages and was able to balance up, sitting just behind the early leader Sette Bello heading around the first turn.

The big, black dog slipped into another gear down the back, storming to the lead and shooting clear to score by eight lengths over fellow Victorian, Berzerk.

Both greyhound will progress through to the final, with Dyna Double One to exit from box five again, with Berzerk drawn more suitably in the three.

Dyna Double One, trained by Andrea Dailly, has now won 10 of his 19 career starts with six minor placings.

Regarded as one of the fastest young pups in the country, he is no stranger to success at Cannington, having won this year's .

His 30.10 run is a new personal best in the west, while he has also recorded great times of 29.43 at The Meadows and 29.55 at throughout his short career.

The second heat of the night was an open affair, with five runners starting under double figures.

Punters eventually gave the nod to 's Starlight Jack from box six and he looked to be a live chance, running second throughout the majority of the race, before tiring to finish fifth in the run to the line. 


After a poor beginning, rails runner Nero Bolt was able to muster pace along the fence, sitting just behind the leaders before switching to the outside and unleashing a powerful finishing burst down the outside in the home straight, clinching the lead from lamplighter Fun Boss to record a 30.73 win. 



Trained by Nick Minutillo, Nero Bolt has now won two in a row at Cannington and 11 from 23 overall.



After his kennel mate's defeat in the prior qualifier, Paul Stuart's Tureaud managed to turn the night around for his trainer with a dominant display in the third heat.

Starting as the odds on favourite from box three, the regally bred son of and Starlight Delly went straight to the early lead and was never headed in a click 30.37.

He will start from box one in the final where he has won two from two, both over the track and trip at Cannington.



Nine-and-one-quarter-lengths behind the winner was Crashing Packs which managed to secure himself a berth in the decider with a determined performance from box six. 



The fourth and final heat went to NSW, with Shaun Evans making the trip across Australia with his highly talented youngster, Aphorism.

The son of and Fantasy Royale, the runner-up in this year's Group 3 New Sensation at Wentworth Park, handled himself beautifully from box three, finding the front and running to the line strongly at his track debut, clocking 30.59.



Katsuro Sahara gave plenty of cheek at big odds, running second one-and-three-quarter-lengths behind the winner.



The final will be run next Saturday night and will offer $40,000 to winning connections.
