Dyna Double One Dazzles In Silver Chief Heats
Dyna Double One stamped himself as a star of the future after a surreal 29.55 performance when taking out a heat of the Group One Silver Chief Classic at The Meadows last night.
At just his third racetrack appearance, the son of Barica Bale and Crystin Bale stepped cleanly from box six before exploding in the run to the first turn. Once on the bunny, nothing else stood a chance as Dyna Double One sprinted to the line 13 lengths clear of Astronomize.
The victory kept his unblemished record intact which also includes a slick 29.81 over the track and distance last weekend. The Andrea Dailly- trained sprinter looms as one of the genuine contenders heading into Saturday’s semi finals and the $100,000 to the winner final on January 3.
Dyna Double One was just one of four heat winners for the Wheeler dynasty with their other standout performer being Dyna Villa which clocked a blistering 29.67 win from box seven.
Returning to a two turn track following his third placing in the Hobart Thousand on Thursday, the son of Collision and Roxio Bale was unchallenged throughout, winning dominantly by just under four and a half lengths for Jenny Hunt.
Hunt also trained another of the Wheeler heat victors in Amaro Bale which took out heat three from box one. Stepping reasonably from the inside, the red brindle chaser railed beautifully around the first turn and held on for a strong 30.10 triumph.
Andrea Dailly trained the Wheeler’s fourth Silver Chief heat winner which also happened to be a litter brother to Dyna Double One in Dyna Quirk. The red fawn dog, which does not turn two until March, scored his second win at start three, stopping the clock in a handy 30.04.
Dailly also scored a win in the final heat with Crackerjack Max leading virtually all the way from box two in a nippy 30.07, defeating Vapour Lee for Lyn Smith.
Rising WA chaser Tureaud also scored an impressive heat win in the opening qualifier.
The Paul Stuart– trained youngster stepped well from box four and was never in doubt, setting a hot time of 29.72 over the 525 metre trip. It was win number nine at start 13 for the regally bred black dog, a son of Kinloch Brae and Starlight Delly, a litter sister to champion bitch Miata. Ikaku Bale ran on well to pinch second for Andrea Dailly with Harden Bale filling the trifecta back in third.
Astromatic caused the biggest upset of the night in heat four when defeating recent Hobart Thousand hero Above All.
Astromatic, paying $18.60, began terrifically from box seven and quickly assumed the lead. Once in front that was where he stayed for the entire race, just getting in over the line in front of a fast finishing Above All.
Above All was far from disgraced after finding of trouble during the run before making up a stack of ground. He will get every chance to redeem himself in next Saturday’s semi finals.
It has been a top year for Jeff Britton and Angela Langton and the couple look to have a live chance in the Silver Chief series after Weston East saluted for Angela in heat two.
Clocking 29.90, the son of Oaks Road and Hot Spur used box one to his advantage by railing underneath the field following a slow beginning.
Once he was through the pack and sitting in second position, the black dog hooked to the outside of the leader, Dyna Alchemist, around the home turn and sprinted clear in the straight.
Midnight Flynn was another winner which managed to break the 30 second barrier, clocking 29.84 from box two, while Emrys was the slowest heat victor, although in saying that his time of 30.16 was still very good.
The semi-finals of the Group One Silver Chief Classic will be held at The Meadows next Saturday night.
