El Galo Heads Great Bob Payne Winter Stake Heats

Champion Victorian heads the line up for Saturday's four heats of the 2 Over Flo at Stud over the 520 metres at Wentworth Park.

The heats are the legs of the TAB Quadrella and some spirited betting should ensue with the heats brim full of talent.

Heat 1 includes the Vic Bartolo trained Starfire Havoc, winner of the Group 2 Evans and Son at the track in early May, together with which trainer Owen Langley has taken to more than one Group final at Wentworth Park.

Jason Thompson has entered Aston Trivett and El Galo's kennel mate goes out of box 1 in this first heat.

The second heat has the 2009 winner Dana Beatrice contesting from box 7 and trainer Rod McDonald will be hoping for better luck from the wide alley than when fourth in a heat of the recent Ladies Bracelet from box 8.

Multiple Wentworth Park winners Cool Flight and Repeated also contest this heat.

The mighty El Galo last appeared at Wentworth Park when he ran third in this year's Golden Easter Egg final and returns to contest heat 3 from box 7.

The Victorian champ will have strong opposition from talented first grader Radio Star drawn favourably in box 2 for leading trainer Richard Dean, Kim Hyde's True Kihael which has box 4 and which won the De Bortoli Wines in a slick 29.82 on Golden Easter Egg final night and the promising Margaret Morris trained Kelmatt's Melody.

There's also plenty of talent in the final heat including Foxhill Bella, a Ladies Bracelet heat winner in a slick 29.86 for trainer Denice Warren, 2009 Golden Easter Egg finalist for trainer Robert Arnold and Julie Fletcher's exciting galloper Magnifique, the winner of two Group 3 events at the provincials, and sporting a slick 29.85 Wentworth Park win amongst his 13 wins from only 20 starts.

“We are delighted with the response from owners and trainers which have enabled four top quality heats to be drawn, highlighting Saturday's big Wentworth Park program,” commented GBOTA Deputy Executive Officer Jeff Browne.

“If the heat results go to form we are in for a fabulous final on Saturday night July 4,” Browne added.

Gates open at 5.30 pm on Saturday and entry is $5.50 for adults and children under 18 years and accompanied by an adult are free.
