have served notification to the Trainer, Mr. of Pearcedale, and the Owner, Ms. Seona Hood also of Pearcedale, by way of a kennel inspection conducted today.

An into the circumstances surrounding this finding will be held at a date to be fixed.

N-butyl-hyoscine is a prohibited substance which is present in Buscopan and Spasmogesic and is a common treatment for horses with colic.

In recent times there has been a spate of Victorian thoroughbred racehorses testing positive in post-race urine samples to n-butyl-hyoscine.

The effects of N-butyl-hyoscine in the greyhound and racehorse are thought to be similar to those of propantheline bromide which became better known as “Blue Magic” when it rose to prominence in 2004 after a run of thoroughbred and standardbred horses returned positived swabs to it.

Inquiries in to postive swabs to “Blue Magic” in racehorses back then resulted in lengthy disqualifications for those involved and two New Zealand racing identities who were called to inquiry to investigate “Blue Magic” use, died before their inquiries could be finalised.
