Fire Legend to make his mark at stud

Grand old campaigner and cult hero Fire Legend will soon have vials available to breeders, as owner and trainer Mark Moroney has registered the 15-time Group finalist as a sire.
The son of Fernando Bale and Moroney’s star producer Tick Away Fire has saluted in 54 of his 120 starts including 36 placings, with his versatility evident having recorded victories across 18 different tracks.
His career began back in August of 2019, where the fawn flash won over the 400m journey at Maitland in a slick time of 22.54 and went on to score in 5 of his first 7 outings.
The 30kg chaser had his first taste of Group racing success when winning the 2020 G2 Lismore Cup during October of 2020. Exiting from box five, after taking the lead at the winning post on the first occasion, he was never headed in a 29.80 victory over the 520m.
Fire Legend became a formidable force on the racing scene in NSW upon stepping up into the masters class, having recently strung 11 consecutive wins together including a dazzling display in the Grafton Sprinters Cup final over the 450m, where he held off a late challenge from sprinting star Typhoon Sammy.
Perhaps his greatest feat occurred in September on Million Dollar Chase Grand Final Night, leading all the way from box five in the $100,000-to-the-winner event over the 520m. Not only did he salute by 7.5 lengths, he recorded a speedy time of 29.74 — just 0.04 outside his personal best at the track.
Some of Fire Legend’s personal-best times throughout his journey so far include Ballarat 450m (25.09), Gosford 388m (22.09), 515m (29.47), Grafton 350m (19.78), 450m (25.31), Maitland 400m (22.20), 450m (24.84), Sandown Park 515m (29.41), Wauchope 457m (25.36 – equal track record).
His impeccable pedigree has produced the likes of Fire On Ice (22-race winner currently in-pup to Aston Rupee), Arctic Kingdom (18-time winner), Black Firebrand (17-time winner) and Prince Rohit (15-time winner).
Straws will available shortly for $1,100 and can be secured by calling Mark on 0431 332 062.
