Flash Max Enjoys His New Surrounds
Former Victorian dog Flash Max recorded his first win in WA for new trainer Dean Starkie in the Mandurah Mail Mixed Stake at Greyhounds WA Mandurah last Friday night.
Starkie purchased the black dog from Victorian interests after the son of Most Awesome- Miss Big Time had won five times in 51 starts there.
The 31kg dog finished second at his first two starts at Mandurah before rolling his rivals over the 492 metres.
Flash Max looks like he will be a handy addition to the Casuarina kennels of Starkie who is a highly respected Consultative Committee member.
The Consultative Committee which also consists of trainers Peter Hepple, Mick Pollard, Barry Thompson and Allen Kinnish have been constructive in raising their ideas and concerns towards the betterment of greyhound racing in WA.
Puppy Club Magic (Trendy Leigh- Rosdale Zoey) bounced back into the winner’s circle last Friday night when he enjoyed his favourite box eight for trainer John Carmody.
The huge 36 ½ kg black dog likes plenty of room with his big frame and won by 5 ¾ lengths to record his eighth career victory from just 19 starts.
Puppy Club Magic races for the Greyhounds WA Puppy Club which is a free club for children under 16 years with benefits of free activities on certain race nights and free entry for their parents.
The winning stake earnings from the syndicates race dogs also are donated to children at Perth’s Princess Margaret Hospital.
Rocky Bay Village is a charitable organisation that helps raise funds to improve the lives of people with disabilities.
Last week the organisation received a boost when a greyhound named Rocky Bay Lad (Big Daddy Cool- Shining Ribbons) recorded his first win in Western Australia for new trainer Peter Hepple.
Rocky Bay Lad showed good speed to cross from box seven and went to the lead going down the back straight before winning by eight lengths in 30.82.
At his previous start on debut in WA Rocky Bay Lad finished second in a Maiden behind Flying Shambi.
The winning stake earnings will be handed over by the syndicate of Perth business men to the Rocky Bay Village charity group
