Gazza Shiraz Looking For Four Straight Wins
Casino Cup winner Gazza Shiraz will have punters raising a glass if he can make it four consecutive wins at Albion Park tomorrow night. After winning the group three heat and then Cup final on the grass at Casino, Gazza Shiraz has been in fine form with a win at Brisbane last Monday over 520m.
Clocking in at 30.15 from box six in that race, Gazza Shiraz is expected to perform well with a favourable box seven draw in the 5th Grade Winning Edge 520m (race six).
However, the Kayleen Thrupp-trained Gannon is going to put up a good contest, starting from box one in this race.
Three Best 8 races dominate the card this Thursday night at Albion Park with the first the opening Roanakee Stand 710m (race one).
Seventeen-time Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club trainer of the year, Tony Zammit, will be looking for a win in this race with One Missing having his first start back to 710m since posting his best time of 42.33 at Albion Park last month.
Starting from box seven, One Missing is sure to be joined in the finish by Kayleen Thrupp's Spontaneous, who will be looking for its second Thursday night distance win in two weeks.
However, Nicely Done is expected to contest the race also as she currently sits in top position on the Greyhound of the Year progressive points leader board.
Race eight of the evening is another Best 8 race, with the Big Dog Pet Foods 600m.
Black Ruler, Aunty Vick, Free Cheers, Berella Diva and Xanadu's Image will go head to head in this thrilling local derby, which is a very open race.
Following in race nine, will be the last of the Best 8's with a 520m race sponsored by the ‘A' team.
Ray Burman's Super Hornet is positioned well in box three if it can get out early, but is joined inside and out by some classy competition.
Box one and two feature Anarchy and Intrepid Force, respectively, and box four will feature one of Paul Felgate's top performers, Overflow Breaker.
And it seems Queensland dogs have got all the luck of late, with Size Can Matter proving too good in the Platinum Paws semi-final.
Clocking in at 30.14, Size Can Matter has drawn box three in the final set for Friday at Addington racecourse in Christchurch, New Zealand, and is expected to start at short odds.
Other good news for Queensland dogs was the announcement of the field for Top Gun invitational.
After having to pull out of the Paws of Thunder contest due to coming on season, Queen Lauryn, owned by Steve Hawkins, will start from box six in the $100,000 race.
In more unfortunate news, Reg Kay's star Knocka Norris has been forced into early retirement, after cracking a near side hock.
Knocka Norris will be sent to Rocky Ridge Stud in Sydney.
