GRV surpasses fundraising goal for Royal Children’s Hospital
The Victorian greyhound racing community has exceeded its fundraising goal of $50,000 for the Good Friday Appeal, at the Royal Children's Hospital, raising a total of over $50,000 with a few days remaining in the campaign.
Their dedication to this cause has been remarkable, as every victory by the #4 Blue Dog on tracks in Victoria during March has led to a $300 donation split between Greyhound Racing Victoria (GRV), a leading bookmaker and the 13 greyhound racing clubs.
On Good Friday, this amount will double to $600 for each win from box four.
As of Wednesday night, 124 blue dogs had emerged victorious on tracks, resulting in $37,200 in commitments.
When combined with a donation of $11,000 from GRV and contributions from individuals within the industry, the fundraising total has surged past $50,000.
Peita Duncan, Chair of GRV, expressed her gratitude for the support shown by those involved.
To smash our fundraising target of $50,000 on the eve of Good Friday is a credit to all in the Victorian greyhound racing industry for getting behind
this important cause, in particular our 13 clubs,” Duncan remarked.
Duncan highlighted the connection that exists between the industry and the Royal Children's Hospital.
“No one in the greyhound racing industry is immune to the fact sometimes their kids need care at the Royal Children's Hospital, so we're extremely passionate about raising much-needed funds for the Good Friday Appeal,” she said.
The fundraising activities will run until the end of March, with race meetings planned for Good Friday in Traralgon, Geelong, and Horsham.
These events will include family entertainment, interactive experiences and fundraising initiatives to support the campaign.
The greyhound racing community's commitment to the Good Friday Appeal has been outstanding, having raised more than $250,000 for the Royal Children's Hospital since 2022.
