Gunnedah Secure Sky Racing & TAB Coverage For Cup Meeting

NSW Deputy Chairman and Gunnedah Club President, said that last year's Cup meeting was an outstanding success with high quality nominations and triple the normal crowd.

TAB/Sky Coverage allows the Gunnedah Club to again showcase the feature race on its annual calendar, the Chief Havoc GRNSW Country Final, before a audience.

“Last year's crowd was the biggest I have seen since the 1980's and our trading figures were outstanding,” Rose said.

“Cup day on the June 6 Sunday is part of a four meeting carnival – race dates are May 22 and 29, June 6 and 12 with $40,000 in prize money to be distributed,” Rose added.

The Gunnedah track provides grass track racing over 347m, 440m 512m and 576m.

“The Gunnedah Cup is part of the highly successful GRNSW Country Challenge series and heats will be staged on Saturday evening, May 29. The June 6 final will be run in the twilight slot and will carry $4,000 to the winner.

“Also on June 6, with the support of the local hotels, we are delighted to be able to offer the same purse for the winner of the Gunnedah and District Hoteliers Challenge Final over 347m.

“A bookmaker will be in attendance at all meetings during the carnival and besides the full TAB coverage on June 6 the supporting meetings of the carnival will have full cross-code totalisator services,” Rose concluded.

NSW GBOTA Executive Officer, , said the TAB and Sky coverage of the Gunnedah Cup meeting continued a desire on the part of the NSW GBOTA to see TAB racing expanded in the south, central and west of NSW.
