He’s Classy & Kidatee Alf Big Casinon Winners Despite Age

He's Classy may be getting into the veteran class, but he showed he is still racing in great zest by winning his first distance start at last . He has been finishing off his races well, so trainer Alf Love decided to try him over the longer trip with great success.

He powered into the race after a lap, and ran away from his rivals to win by three lengths. His time of 35.85 is very competitive, and showed another win is not far away. Alf Love, always a gentleman, is somewhat of a veteran himself, having being around greyhounds for longer than he can remember.

Keeping with “oldies” theme was another winner, . He was having his one hundredth start in the Casino RSM Club Free For All, and reading the script well, was able to record an all of the way win. He ran 23.11, just outside his personal best in holding on from to score by a half length.

Our race caller on the day was , who is a part owner. He kept his “cool” as old Alf swept to the front, and professionally called the event. The odds of 22/1 may have appealed to the other guys who share in his ownership. He has now won over $30,000 in prize money.

The best time of the day went to the highly improved Kooringa Squirt, who ran 23.04. She is a faultless beginner and from box eight was soon in the lead. Bralyn Sal was soon after her, but when she was running so fast up front, there was no way there would be an upset. She has now won her last three for owner trainer Mitch Northfield.

Allegro Charm also made it three on the trot when she won the Meat E Vite Extra Pro stake for . After running a record over the 620 metres two meetings ago, she reverted to the 484 metre trip and she was never headed in running a fast 27.01 in winning by seven lengths.

Steve Casey looks to have a handy one in Tomanike who won her second race from only four starts in the opening race. Relishing the rails she was quickly in the lead and held on well to win by 1 1/4 lengths in 23.36.

Gold Hannah finally broke through for when she won the Mc Donald's Pharmacy maiden in a good 27.59, whilst Tsunami Tears railed through on the circle to take out the opening maiden in 23.39 for Bill Smith.

The Wylie / McCalman combination saluted again when Oxley County won the lucky last in 23.12, and local knowledge assisted Hillcrest Gwen take out the Tweed to Casino Final. She made a strong run through the pack to reach the lead out of the back straight and went on to win by 2 1/4 lengths in 23.14.

In the other races, Paw Form belied his name by breaking his maiden in 23.30 for Jeff Ahern, Perfect Student held on to win the second distance race in 35.57 for , and Outreach led throughout in 23.37 for Gerrard Bowe.

No racing this week being Good Friday, but we resume on 9th April with 5th grade heats.
