High Action In Lithgow’s Golden Muzzle Heats

The Lithgow Greyhound Club held a 13 event program, with the features being the running of the final of the Westfund Health Care that was won by and the three heats of the Golden Muzzle.

Race two was won by Velocity Gem, trained by and was the first of a double for Chapman, beating Rosey Kim and Quagmire by 5½ lengths in 17.24.

Race three was the first heat and was won impressively by local greyhound , trained by Chris Phillips.

Jumping well, Silent Hill went to the lead halfway down the front straight and was never headed to beat and Reggae Bond by 4¼ lengths in a good 29.98.

The greyhound is part owned by C Phillips and G Danaher.

Race four was won by , the second of John Chapman's winners, beating Wild and Woolie and by 2½ lengths in 25.10.

Race six was the second Muzzle heat and was won by , trained by Tracey Hurst, last year's winning trainer, beating local greyhound Strong Drop and another local Full Blast by 2¾ lengths in 30.29.

The last heat, race eight was won by , trained by William McKenna, who beat Billy Said and Queen Rose by 1¼ lengths in 30.41.

Reserves for the final will be Queen Rose (missing out by one hundredth of a second) and High Visibility.

This brought up race nine, the final of the Westfund Health Care Stakes.

The race was won in fine style by favourite Turbo Conquest.

Jumping well, the greyhound went to the lead to beat Call Me Faust and Hartley Fella by 2½ lengths in a good 24.92.

The presentation to winning was made by Westfund's General Manager Grahame Danaher to trainer Robert Shepherd.

The club thanks Westfund for their many years of involvement in greyhound racing by sponsoring this race each Carnival.

Race 11 was won by , trained by Vince Cravigan (and was the greyhound's second win in as many weeks), beating Concerted and Mavriki Lily by 4¾ lengths in 17.55.

The last race was won by Art Mystery, trained by Roger Morrison, who beat Fantasy Owl and Movealong Wilson by six lengths in 24.90.

Next Sunday will see the running of the final of the Lithgow Workmens Club Golden Muzzle along with the John Doggett Memorial over 506m, the Jim Robson Appreciation Stakes over 610m, the Mick Deignan Memorial over 287m and the Diana Banks Appreciation Stakes over 414m.

These four races are all for the best greyhounds nominated.

All members of the Workmens Club will be admitted free and all women will receive a free ticket in a $500 gift voucher, courtesy of Regency Jewellers.

Queen Rose has gained a run from the 8 box and will be hard to bet from there
