Holy Moley Upsets The Healesville Cup
At just 25 months of age and in just his ninth career start, Holy Moley came from midfield to storm past champion provincial sprinter Vee Man Vane to claim the $12,000 first prize.
“My heart was racing and my legs were shaking after the race because he was so far back and I didn't give him any chance”, Elizabeth said of the son of Elite State and Lady Sinade.
Vee Man Vane, the 2007 Ballarat Cup winner, looked to have the race won when he speared to the lead from box 8, but he was beaten by a head in a photo finish in a spectacular finish.
Third in the line of betting at $5.00 behind Vee Man Vane ($2.70 Fav) and 2007 Healesville Cup winner Taipan Bale ($3.50), Holy Moley made it five wins and three placings from nine starts to date.
“We bred Holy Moley and his brother Professor Tom (trained by Russell McRae), who is also a very good greyhound as he won the Traralgon Vic Breeders Maiden series in November”, Elizabeth explained.
Holy Moley is owned by the Smooth Ruskie Syndicate, made up of Russian pair Alex Ivachoff and Michael Propopiev, who are plasterers by trade.
