I’m A Fencer Wins Again For New Trainer

Smart chaser I'm A Fencer ( – Wooreddy) continued on his winning way at the Devonport Raceway on Tuesday afternoon when he showed his rivals a clean pair of paws in winning the Surepick Invitation (452 metres).

Drawn ideally in the red box, he found the early lead in the event and eventually defeated the veteran Fisherman ( Where's Pedro – Stylish Dotty) and Pendle Beri ( – Mohar) in the fastest time of the day 25.76.

I'm A Fencer has now won three of four starts since resuming from injury back in July, having recovered from what was once thought to be a career ending injury.

Raced by Launceston fencing contractor Kingsley Jarman, was previously prepared by Bishopsbourne trainer David Crosswell, but is now in the care of former champion bike rider at Dilston near Launceston.

I'm A Fencer has now won 26 of 56 lifetime starts and stakes of in excess of $72,000 and will surprisingly not contest tonight's Tattsbet State Heats to be conducted at Park in .

Brighton trainer took training honours at Tuesday's NWGRC meeting by winning the final two races on the card with the litter-mates Martello Towers and Silver Strand.

Members of the highly successful – Becky Baba litter, they are raced by the trainer in partnership with leading bookmaker and prolific breeder Barry Heawood of Tea Tree.

Martello Towers took out the Simon's Design Centre Grade 3 (452 metres) in the time of 25.83 and Silver Strand was successful in the Synectic Chartered Accountants Grade 5 (452 metres) in a slower 26.43.

The former has now won five of 18 lifetime outings and the latter four of 10 starts and both chasers are expected to well and truly pay their way in the future.

Another of the litter in Bastille Border had to be content with second placing earlier in the day in the Prestige Joinery (Grade 5) 452 metres, which was won by the prepared Dermie ( Meticulous – Aurora Rose).

That chaser returned the handy dividend of $9.40 in recording the time of 26.39 and has now won six of 30 lifetime outings and stakes of in excess of $9,000.

The Allison Walker prepared Fair Go (Buckingham Chuck – Sienna Blue) was on his best behaviour at the meeting and recorded a nice win in the Betta Milk Juvenile (452 metres).

The chaser has been known to be tardy at the boxes in the past, but revealed his true ability by scoring an impressive victory in the time of 26.06.

Having raced on only five occasions for two wins and three placings, Fair Go is expected to continue on his winning way in the future.

Rosevale trainer Sonia Martin provided the upset of the programme when reserve runner Sundown Kiss ( Bond – Miss Ricky Lee) prevailed in The Advocate Grade 5 (580 metres) paying the dividend of $16.

The chaser has shown a liking for the Devonport Raceway circuit in the past, having won on three occasions at the venue without winning elsewhere.
