Jan Warner Fined $2500 For Androstane Positive

(RQ) today conducted an into the analyst's in respect of a urine sample taken from the registered greyhound Femme Jolie, which won Race 3 at the Greyhound Racing Club on 13 June 2014.

After taking evidence from the trainer of Femme Jolie, Mrs Jan Warner, stewards issued a charge against Mrs Warner pursuant to Rule (GAR) 83 (2)(a) to which she pleaded guilty.

GAR 83 (2)(a) reads:

The owner, trainer or person in charge of a greyhound nominated to compete in an event shall present the greyhound free of a prohibited substance.

The specifics of the charge being that on 13 June 2014, Jan Warner, as the trainer of the greyhound Femme Jolie, did present that greyhound to compete in race 3 at the Ipswich Greyhound Racing Club, when a urine sample taken from the greyhound following the event, was found, upon analysis, to contain the prohibited substance 5B-androstane-3a, 17B-diol.

After considering all available evidence stewards found Mrs Warner guilty as charged.

In assessing penalty, Stewards took into consideration the following points:

· Mrs Warner's contribution to the industry spanning over 15 years
· That the prohibited substance ‘5B-androstane-3a, 17B-diol' (BaB diol) is a metabolite of Testosterone.
· Previous penalties in respect to similar substances.

Subsequently Mrs Warner was fined the sum of $2500.

Acting under the provisions of GAR 83 (4) Femme Jolie was disqualified from its 1st placing in race 3 at the Ipswich Greyhound Racing Club on 13 June 2014.

The placing's from the 431m Novice held on 13 June 2014 were amended accordingly.

Mrs Warner was directed to return all prize money received from the aforementioned event to Racing Queensland.

Mrs Warner was advised of her appeal rights.
