Keybow Proves Too Good In 2014 Group Three Silver Bullet
It is hard to keep a good dog down and Keybow (8) proved that old adage true on Monday night at The Meadows, taking out the Group Three Silver Bullet.
The 30kg chaser by Take The Kitty and Key Exit (Over Flo – Atlanta Belle) came into the race off a sixth in the Topgun the week before. This run was his second one back this preparation and he just proved too good, claiming Luca Neveelk (1) in the run home to score by four and a half lengths in 29.72. His record showed that his form from box eight was credible, with two wins from four attempts and he used the box perfectly to gain the sit behind Luca Neveelk.
As expected, Luca Neveelk motored along early, leading at the first and second sectional marks. However, things looked ominous turning for home as Keybow was in striking distance and Marcus Joe (7) worked himself clear of the pack. As it turned out, Marcus Joe got to second, nabbing Luca Neveelk down the home straight.
Last year’s winner, Farmor Las Vegas (5), sadly broke down coming out of the back straight and couldn’t finish the race.
Keybow, trained by Darren McDonald and owned by Kelvin Lean, has now won 15 races and over $330,000 in prizemoney.
