Knights Defender Ready For Charity Debut At The Gardens Today

, Knights Defender will have his first start today at for the 2010 Dally M Winger of the Year and NRL leading try scorer, and Newcastle Knights cult figure, Akuila Uate.

All prizemoney generated by Knights Defender will be donated to Westpac Rescue Helicopter Services and the Hunter Surf Lifesaving Association.

“Hunter Surf Lifesaving is thankful that we are a recipient alongside Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service in the greyhound venture between the Newcastle Knights and the Association.” Said Steve Knight, Director Member Services for Hunter Surf Lifesaving

Trained by One winning trainer, , Knights Defender is ready for his first up assignment this afternoon in race four, the Multicam Maiden Series Heat 1, which is set to go at 4.47pm, with the flashy chaser jumping from box seven.

“He's raring to go for his first defence” said kennel representative Kevin Gordon after the Knights training session on Tuesday

In an added , all Newcastle Knights 2011 Members will be admitted free of charge to the meeting, where Aku Uate will be trackside to lead ‘Knights Defender' to the starting boxes.

Some of Aku's Newcastle Knights' teammates will also be in attendance, cheering on Knights Defender and signing autographs as well.

So Knights fans, make sure you get to The Gardens to cheer on ‘Knights Defender' in the opening ‘defence of your kingdom'.

Also on the card is Series Final (race six) over the 600 metres, which features Cristalle, who ran a near record run of 34.63 in her heat last Saturday night. Her job has been made easier with the scratching of recent Gardens winner Carla, but she will still have to contend with the other heat winner, Bloss Sannette, which scored in 34.94.

In the first race, the Newcastle Knights Stake, promising youngster Mr Clydesdale is backing up after his brilliant debut last week where he could not have been more impress and his owner and trainer Robert McColm has already rejected offers for the son of Knocka Norris.

Today's meeting will be shown live on Skyracing1 and you can bet live at or Iasbet, with the first race of the program scheduled to kick off at 3.47pm AEDT.
