Last Australian state closes – SA ban public at greyhound races
Greyhound Racing South Australia (GRSA) have today announced they will ban the public from SA greyhound racing meetings. They are the last Australian greyhound racing state to do so with Victoria, New South Wales, West Australia, Tasmania and Queensland already having deployed similar strategies.
In a short statement GRSA have said that “GRSA, in consultation with key industry stakeholders have determined that as of today only essential staff and licenced participants with greyhounds engaged at the race meeting (and their children when alternative arrangements cannot be made) will be permitted entry at race meets until further notice”.
“This is a direct effort to protect the wellbeing of industry participants, staff and the general public from contracting COVID-19“.
Attendance at race meetings and trials will be restricted to that of:
- Licenced participants with greyhounds engaged at the race meeting (and their children when alternative arrangements cannot be made)
- Essential staff
Greyhound Racing SA have requested that they “appreciate the acceptance of these measures by all participants and fans of greyhound racing in South Australia”.
