Mackenna, a greyhound trained by Michelle Sultana and daughter of Whiskey Riot, is all set to compete in the race of the prestigious Group 1 Golden Easter Egg (520m) despite having drawn an awkward box-six position in her semi-final for Saturday night on April 6th.
According to the leading greyhound bookmakers, Mackenna is considered the favourite at $1.65 for Semi Final 4 in race 8 after her impressive performance in the heats, where she clocked a blazing time of 29.20.
This remarkable feat not only marked the second fastest time ever recorded at Glebe Circuit but also set a new record for females, narrowly missing Shakey Jakey’s longstanding record of 29.07.
In Mackenna’s final lineup, Zipping Megatron from New South Wales stands as the second favourite at $3.40 from box four, followed by Group 2 Richmond Derby champion Go Bears at $7 in box three.
Victorian contender Shima Current is expected to show improvement after his heat run and holds odds at $13 from box four.
