Majestic Legend favoured by Wollondilly Gift final box draw at Goulburn
Mark Wilcox’s Majestic Legend took advantage of his inside lane during the Ladbrokes Wollondilly Gift Heats – and he looks set to the same thing again in the $12,250 final at Goulburn on Friday.
The two-year-old ran an impressive time of 24.66 seconds in his heat in the 440m event, and again he has been given a good box – number two – for the final.
Majestic Legend lived up to his name and was never in doubt last Friday, shooting out to an early lead from under the red lid.
The $1.30 favourite with greyhound betting sites went on to win by 3.25 lengths in Heat 1, with Denice Warren’s Tanhaji in second.
It was the third-fastest heat time, behind Joshua Board’s Spring Meteor (24.50 seconds) and Ashley Dwyer‘s Royal Osti (24.59 seconds) who finished first and second respectively in Heat 3.
“He’s drawn well,” Wilcox told australianracinggreyhound.com.
“It’s a hard race, so it’s hard to be confident. The dog is going OK but so are the others.
“He ran a good (heat) time, it was the (third) quickest.”
Wilcox is also confident of a strong showing from Castle Warrior in the $6,000 Ultra Sense Heats (520m) at Wentworth Park next Friday.
The two-year-old finished third in the $22,500 Ladbrokes Temora Cup on March 6, running a time of 25.88 seconds over the 457m journey.
“I hope he can win his heat and win the title,” Wilcox said.
