Minister Seeks Expressions Of Interest For New Greyhound Racing Victoria Board
Minister for Racing Dr Denis Napthine is calling for Expressions of Interest for appointment to the Board of Greyhound Racing Victoria (GRV).
Dr Napthine said the decision last month to reconstitute the Board was prompted by a report by the Victorian Ombudsman which called for major improvements within the administration of Greyhound Racing Victoria.
“Earlier this week, I announced the make-up of a transitional board, led by the incumbent Chairman Mr Peter Caillard, to continue to oversee GRV and, importantly, progress implementation of the Ombudsman’s recommendations,” Dr Napthine said.
“This transitional board will be in place for three months while expressions of interest are sought for a permanent board.
“Individuals with experience and interest in the greyhound racing industry, along with those that have a business or marketing background, are invited to apply.
“It is vital that a strong and experienced board is appointed to ensure the future success of the Victorian greyhound racing industry.
“Greyhound racing is an important part of Victoria’s economy, contributing more than $200 million in economic benefits and providing more than 1,600 jobs.
“While I recognise the significant growth in the industry over the recent years, I’m also determined GRV adheres to the highest standards of governance, integrity and probity,” Dr Napthine said.
