The Government reforms on the perceived weakest link in the not for profit (NFP) governance , the greyhounds appears to becoming more apparent. The project appears to be a template for the intended privatising of the whole of the NFP sector which Governance cover is only second to the Federal Government in GDP considerations (mezzanine floor fourth form of Government IAMA publication). If the above is true then it is easy to see why the greyhounds are being dislocated from a social licence and also why the Government is willing to spend multi millions on minimising any payment to the… Read more »

John Tracey dogem53 true john. being an out of stater does not help my cause, but I see this turn around in political strategy as a peoples choice. not only greyhound problems, but a peoples challenge to what is rightfully theirs, and how they must stand and defend that rite. the greyhound situation is a cursor for any business to be very weary of political manouveres. the industries in any zone can be wiped out if so wanted by a government, and a regions life blood can be snipped and left to bleed out to dryness. this is no longer a normal state problem and… Read more »

BobWhitelaw MURRAY BRIDGE COUNCIL got a nice email from me today BOB.

I highlighted the fact it is the towns wishes that need to be looked after, not outside gropers like PETA.

I stated in another post that groups like PETA have no real say in anyones town. they do not purchase a paper or milk or clean the public loos. they have zilch to offer MBRIDGE,so they have no voice.

just as an aside comment, I have a solution to those who MAY be left with hectares of land not being utilised by greyhound pups being reared. don’t laugh at this as its a a answer of not all is lost. USE LAND FOR  FREE RANGE HENS. true. 1500 birds p/hectare is allowable.what they sell for for a dozen is very profitable. just set land up for that type of establishment and you produce income. worth looking into how viable a move like that could be. a start up kit.

I raise this simply because when reading facebook postings, forum postings, etc; so much doom and gloom IF the industry falls over.

those in a position to look at other alternatives, need to do so. it may not be chickens, but another agricultural angle, but it is to educate those thinking of harming themselves and giving up,here is an alternative lifestyle that produces an income AND YOU SURVIVE.

one door shuts,another opens.

of course, small acreage farms wont do as well, but those with 100’s of acres, here is an alternative.

dogem53 There are always alternatives for people who own land and have farming backgrounds. Arising out of the Country Clubs conference and annual meeting is a scheme along the lines you are expressing but by using the common assets linked together to provide services within the expertise of greyhound people to continue. It is possible for the greyhound community to involve itself in associated activities and become better off. Not many own land exclusively but a community can have a common ownership and common purpose. Sorry for being a bit mysterious but some of the details of the above scheme… Read more »

John Tracey dogem53  I agree John- Dastyari declared the payment. He hid nothing.  I am pretty sure if it had been an Australian company not much would have been said at all. It would have been some Australian company paid for his lunch who cares.  This amount was beefed up in the press while people taking thousands in brown paper bags in car parks from property developers (which they certainly did not declare) got scant mention, Baird changed the law to prevent them from being convicted claiming they had suffered enough already- so same ” suffered enough already should apply to Sam”… Read more »

BobWhitelaw  Maybe the RSPCA could go back to the scheme they once had where they would desex animals for a small fee. They make  profit they could use that and  offer desexing free if you are poor and a bigger fee depending on your capacity to pay. This might be more useful than condemning greyhound people and killing unwanted pets. Prevent unwanted pets from the start. The cost of desexing is prohibitive for some people. If the RSPCA can afford vets to administer expensive drugs to kill unwanted animals why not use the money instead to prevent unwanted animals in… Read more »

Sent heavies supposedly to protect him ( well Grant threatens old blokes so maybe he figured greyhound people would – wrong of course.)
