Paua To Roar Breaks Goulburn Track Record

When made the trek down south to on Tuesday, he looked to have a few good things in the trailer, none more so than Paua To Roar who was facing a moderate 5th Grade field over 350 metres in the last race.

But not even the affable Hill mentor could have foreseen the bedazzling display of blinding speed his son of Head Bound and Paua To Erupt (Spiral Nikita – ) was about to unleash. Put simply, if you blinked, you would have missed it.

The black dog who tips the scales at close to 34kg, ran the proverbial hands off the clock, registering a new track record of 19.45, some 0.05 seconds quicker than the old mark set by Natural Player late last year. It was just Paua To Roar’s fourth start in a race.

Paua To Roar was a finalist in the recent Three Sportingbet at on Easter Saturday where he finished fifth. White told ARG at the time that he was managing a problem with the precocious dog and that he was going well considering.

“I had some hiccups with him in the six weeks before and during the series with tonsillitis, he had been choking up in the last bit getting to the line,” White said.

“They became a real nuisance, but we know he can run really good sections.”

He has since had his tonsils removed and it appears to have done the trick perfectly.

White is particularly excited about Paua To Roar’s litter and the day started well for him, courtesy one of his litter-mates.

“His sister, Foxy Nikita went within 0.15 seconds of the 457 metre record in race two, that was her first start.”

And there is plenty more to come if these two are any indication of the rest of the litter.

“We still have another five in the litter who are yet to have their performance trial, it is a very, very good litter.”

The future may also hold more down the track for the now proven producer Paua To Erupt who has recently been mated to Kinloch Brae.

If recent results are any indication, there is certainly exciting times ahead for Steve White and his Paua Kennels.
