Posh Will A Stayer In The Making

of promising chaser Posh Will (Collide – Oh Zoya) are confident that one day he will develop into a handy middle-distance performer and with that in mind, Burnie trainer Sandra Elphinstone is aiming him at the Vet's Medley Series currently being conducted at Park.

“Owner Allan Clark has predicted that in the future he may even rival the very good bitch ,” Elhinstone explained this week.

“That would be great, however I am not sure that he will attain those heights, but I do believe that he has a great deal of improvement in him.”

On Monday night at the Tote Racing Centre, Posh Will accounted for Capable Rossi and Jacks Illusion in the Shaw Contracting Grade 5 event, as a well supported $2.40 favourite.

It was 's third win in 22 starts from the Elphinstone kennel and the trainer is pleased to report that he has also run eight placings, meaning that he has proven to be a good money-spinner.

“Initially Posh Will was invariably slow to leave the boxes, however he has improved his manners and is now jumping quite well, which will hold him in good stead in the future,” she explained.

“He is a lovely dog to handle and an absolute pleasure to train, I wish I had more like him.”

Elphinstone also prepares Posh Will's litter-mate Posh Nick, which debuted at the Raceway late in March with a fifth placing behind Sooty Smith.

“Posh Nick is taking time, but I think he will make the grade, in fact Posh Will is the only winner to have emerged from the litter so far,” she explained.

The young trainer is currently working a team of just three, with former New South Wales chaser Jessta Warrior ( Slater – Instantly Wild), the remaining kennel occupant.

Jessta Warrior has won two races in Tasmania since being purchased by veteran owner Michael Bernath last September and ran a creditable third placing behind the smart chaser Mushy Peas at the Tote Racing Centre on Monday night.

“Jessta Warrior is flying the boxes and then weakening, the exact opposite to what he has doing when he first came here,” Elphinstone explained.

“I will have to put some thought into it, but I am confident that he can win again in the not too distant future.”

Meanwhile star chasers I'm A Fencer ( – Wooreddy) and Rewind ( Collide – Ricky's Angel) will clash once again when they contest the $4,400 Industries Tasmanian Country Derby Final at Tattersalls Park on Tuesday afternoon.

Both chasers were successful in their heats of the rich event, with Rewind running marginally faster time and a battle-royal between the pair is looming for the second time in recent months.

The last occasion the Ima Fencer and Rewind locked horns was in the rich Illingworth Classic Final conducted at the Tote Racing Centre on April 11, with victory going to the David Crosswell prepared Ima Fencer.
No doubt veteran Bracknell mentor Maurie Strickland will have Rewind at the top of his game for this return bout, however Ima Fencer has drawn inside his rival and will take plenty of running down if able to lead.

Rowella trainer Terry Penny holds the key to the $4,400 Country Oaks Final to be conducted on the same programme.

Penny Miss Roman Nose and Clyde's Angel, also members of the highly successful Collide – Ricky's Angel litter and they both appear likely to have an undeniable chance of taking home the major portion of the prize.
