Postman Pat stamps ticket for National Sprint Championship Final
Postman Pat delivered the goods to take out the Victorian National Sprint Final at The Meadows on Thursday night.
The Jason Thompson-trained superstar was sent out as a $2 favourite after running third in the heats last week.
In the final, he got out slow before working through to the lead and showed his class in the run over the 525m trip.
He beat home Tinker Norm ($9.50) and Aussie Rocks ($18) by 1.25 lengths in a time of 29.79.

Following the heat last week, handler Luke Thompson said the team was happy with Postman Pat’s run considering nothing really had gone his way.
After the final win, he had nothing but praise for the Trans-Tasman superstar’s performance.
“It was a huge run,” Thompson said.
“He had to hold his nerve going into the first corner, with the pressure on either side.
“Then once he overcame them, he had Tinker Norm ready to pounce.
“He just wants to win; he dug deep and got the job done.”
The Hooked On Scotch x Birdie Tee dog has 20 wins and five placings from 26 career starts as he edges closer to $250,000 in prize money.
Postman Pat will enter the National Sprint Championship Final on August 26 at The Meadows heavily supported on the back of a year in which he has won a Brisbane Cup Prelude and become a fan favourite amongst punters.
